The University of Kashmir marked the International Day of Yoga on Sunday, with students, faculty members, and staff participating in a mass yoga session to promote physical and mental well-being.
The event, organised by the Department of Students’ Welfare in collaboration with the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, was held under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”.
Vice Chancellor Nilofer Khan led the programme and administered a yoga pledge to participants before a collective session featuring yoga postures and breathing exercises.
Addressing attendees, Khan said yoga should become an integral part of daily life and highlighted its role in promoting health and wellness.
She said the practice had gained global recognition and continued to attract participation across countries.
University officials, including Registrar Naseer Iqbal and Dean Students’ Welfare Seema Singh, also attended the event.
Organisers said the programme formed part of nationwide celebrations of International Day of Yoga supported by India’s Ministry of AYUSH.
