Jammu, Aug 23
Young people in Jammu and Kashmir are increasingly seeking opportunities in education, professional careers, entrepreneurship, and the private sector, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Sunday, calling for stronger grassroots engagement with residents.
Singh was addressing a meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office-bearers in Srinagar.
He said young people in the region were aspirational and wanted to participate in India’s economic growth.
Singh said the changing aspirations of the younger generation presented an opportunity for Jammu and Kashmir, where he said development and normal life were gaining momentum.
He urged BJP workers to maintain regular contact with residents and understand their expectations and concerns, particularly among young people.
Singh also linked peace and development, saying a stable environment could accelerate development while creating employment and increasing public participation.
He highlighted government welfare schemes, including housing and cooking-gas programmes, saying benefits were being provided based on eligibility.
Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma also addressed the meeting and spoke about strengthening the organisation and promoting a developed and empowered J&K.
The meeting was attended by BJP general secretary (organisation) Ashok Koul, Rajya Sabha member Ghulam Ali Khatana, former deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh and other party leaders.
