Jammu and Kashmir is on a path of rapid socio-economic growth, with several major infrastructure projects nearing completion, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Friday in an Independence Day message.

Sinha said the region had received a “powerful developmental boost” in recent years, with work on major infrastructure projects advancing rapidly and development benefits expected to reach all parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

“J&K has firmly set out on a path of rapid socio-economic growth, witnessing remarkable progress over the past few years,” Sinha said.

“Numerous mega projects” were nearing completion, while key infrastructure initiatives were progressing at a swift pace, he said, expressing confidence that Jammu and Kashmir would achieve greater prosperity in the coming years.

Sinha urged people to work collectively towards building a strong, self-reliant and developed Jammu and Kashmir and called on citizens to safeguard peace and prosperity.

“The day is fast approaching when our beloved J&K will emerge as one of the leading developed regions in the country, significantly contributing to the vision of a developed India,” he said.

The LG extended Independence Day greetings to residents and paid tribute to leaders, freedom fighters and martyrs of India’s independence movement.

He also acknowledged the contribution of the Army, paramilitary forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies in protecting India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Sinha praised farmers, workers, businesses, scientists, teachers, innovators, craftsmen, civil-society organisations, women and young people for their contribution to the region’s development.

“You have all played a vital role in raising the stature of J&K, and we couldn’t be prouder of your contributions,” he said.

He called on residents to preserve Jammu and Kashmir’s diversity while protecting India’s unity and integrity.

“Let us cherish the diversity behind our strength, while fiercely protecting our national unity and integrity at any cost,” Sinha said, describing that as the central message of Independence Day.
