National Health Mission employees in Jammu and Kashmir ended a 10-day strike on Friday after the government gave a written assurance to examine their long-pending demands, their association said.
The Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission Employees Association decided after a meeting with Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo and senior officials.
The government has constituted a committee to examine the employees’ demands under an order dated September 17, the association said.
The demands include regularisation, pay parity, job security, revised remuneration, retirement benefits and social security.
The strike, which began on September 9, had affected NHM-supported health services in several districts, with some hospitals curtailing services because of staff shortages.
The association said it would monitor implementation of the government’s assurances.
