Jammu and Kashmir House in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri on Friday unveiled newly redeveloped VVIP accommodation facilities, aimed at expanding hospitality capacity for dignitaries visiting the national capital.

Resident Commissioner Ramesh Kumar inaugurated the renovated fourth floor of C-Block in the presence of Additional Resident Commissioner Anil Kumar Sharma and senior officers of the Resident Commission.

The redevelopment comes after the reorganisation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, under which A and B Blocks of J&K House were transferred to the Union Territory of Ladakh, leaving Jammu and Kashmir with only C-Block for official accommodation.

Officials said the shift had significantly reduced available lodging space for visiting ministers, Members of Parliament, senior civil and police officers, judicial officers and official delegations from Jammu and Kashmir.

To address the shortfall, the administration undertook a comprehensive upgrade of the fourth floor of C-Block.

The renovated floor now includes three suites — Pashmina, Hangul and Chinar — along with two VVIP rooms named Trikuta and Saffron.

Officials said the facilities have been developed in line with contemporary hospitality standards, with emphasis on comfort, security and a professional environment for official guests visiting New Delhi.

Jammu and Kashmir House in Chanakyapuri has long served as J&K’s principal official residence and reception centre in New Delhi, hosting ministers, legislators, senior bureaucrats, judicial officers, and official delegations.

Following the 2019 reorganisation of the erstwhile state, A and B Blocks of the complex were allocated to the Union Territory of Ladakh, substantially reducing accommodation available to J&K guests.

With only C-Block remaining under its control, pressure on existing infrastructure increased sharply.

The latest redevelopment is part of efforts by the J&K administration to augment accommodation capacity and modernise facilities to meet growing official requirements in the national capital.
