Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday described the 2019 abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A as a major constitutional change that, he said, had opened new possibilities for the region.
Speaking at the launch of Sardar Patel and Kashmir: The Untold History, Sinha said the changes represented a step towards what he called greater psychological and emotional integration and equal rights and opportunities.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government with the decision and said Jammu and Kashmir now stood at the threshold of a new future.
Sinha outlined four priorities for the region: combating terrorism, improving infrastructure and connectivity, empowering young people through the digital economy and startups, and reviving cultural heritage.
He praised Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s role in India’s integration and said Patel’s approach to nation-building continued to shape India’s democratic and national identity.
The LG also urged writers to approach history as a record of truth rather than an instrument of glorification.
The book was edited and published by Rizwan Kadri. Senior officials, literary figures, and representatives of the Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan attended the launch.
