India took its anti-terrorism message to the US Capitol this week, with its embassy hosting a major exhibition highlighting the human cost of militant violence, drawing broad bipartisan participation from US lawmakers and officials.

The event, held on April 22 at the Cannon House Office Building, marked one year since the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 civilians were killed.

Through personal testimonies, visual displays and video installations, the exhibition documented the impact of the attack and broader patterns of violence, underscoring what organisers described as the long-term toll of terrorism on victims and communities.

Nineteen members of the US Congress attended, along with representatives from more than 60 congressional offices, including staff from committees overseeing foreign affairs, intelligence, armed services, judiciary and homeland security, the embassy said.

Senior US administration officials, members of the Indian diaspora, students, policy experts and media representatives were also present, making it one of the most widely attended Indian diplomatic events on Capitol Hill in recent years.

India’s ambassador to the United States, Vinay Kwatra, reiterated New Delhi’s stance against terrorism, saying the country would not yield to such threats.

Lawmakers at the event expressed solidarity with India and voiced support for strengthening bilateral cooperation on counterterrorism, signalling continued bipartisan backing for closer strategic ties between the two countries.
