New Delhi, June 6

India hosted the 11th BRICS Foreign Policy Dialogue in New Delhi on Friday as part of its preparations for assuming the chairmanship of the bloc in 2026, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

The day-long meeting brought together policy planning heads and senior representatives from the expanded BRICS membership to discuss key challenges and opportunities facing member countries amid a rapidly evolving global landscape.

The dialogue focused on future forecasting, strengthening resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability within the grouping, the MEA said in a statement.

Participants exchanged views on the future direction of BRICS as it approaches its 20th year, including the use of emerging technologies to improve service delivery, efforts to accelerate climate action and energy transition, and measures to enhance economic, social and institutional resilience.

Discussions also covered cooperation on reforming global governance institutions and advancing people-centric outcomes through multilateral engagement, the ministry said.

The Indian delegation was led by Aparna Ray, Joint Secretary for Policy Planning and Research in the MEA.

The dialogue forms part of India’s engagements as incoming BRICS chair and underscores the bloc’s growing focus on addressing global challenges through collaborative action and inclusive development, the ministry said.
