The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Monday held a Full Court Reference in honour of Chief Justice Arun Palli following his elevation to the Supreme Court of India, in a solemn ceremony attended by judges, senior officials and members of the legal fraternity.
The reference was held in the Chief Justice’s courtroom at the Srinagar wing of the High Court in line with established judicial convention.
Judges of the High Court, including Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Justice Sindhu Sharma, Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Justice Sanjay Dhar and several others attended the proceedings, along with senior civil and police officials, advocates and registry officers.
Former judges, senior lawyers, the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, judicial officers of the Central Administrative Tribunal, and representatives of the Bar Association also participated, while officials from the Jammu wing joined virtually.
Senior Additional Advocate General Mohsin Qadri delivered the farewell address, praising Justice Palli’s judicial career, administrative leadership and contribution to strengthening the justice delivery system in J&K.
The President of the Kashmir Advocates Association also expressed appreciation for what he described as Justice Palli’s accessibility, humility and commitment to the rule of law, extending best wishes on his elevation to the Supreme Court.
Justice Sanjeev Kumar, in his address, reflected on Justice Palli’s tenure as Chief Justice, describing it as marked by “vision, integrity and commitment” to institutional efficiency and judicial excellence.
Responding to the remarks, Chief Justice Arun Palli thanked judges, members of the Bar, court officials and staff for their cooperation during his tenure, and underscored the importance of preserving the independence and traditions of the judiciary.
The proceedings were conducted by Registrar General M.K. Sharma, and the outgoing Chief Justice was later accorded a ceremonial guard of honour.
