The Food Safety Department in Jammu and Kashmir has intensified inspection drives across Srinagar to ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety standards, officials said on Friday.
As part of the campaign, food safety officials inspected several bakery shops on Residency Road in Srinagar to assess hygiene conditions, quality of ingredients and cleanliness of business premises.
Officials said the inspections focused on food handling practices, storage conditions and measures aimed at preventing contamination.
During the drive, bakery operators were advised to maintain proper segregation of raw materials and finished products, follow temperature control measures and adhere to safe storage practices.
The inspection teams also conducted awareness sessions for food business operators on maintaining sanitary conditions and complying with regulations under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
Authorities warned that strict legal action would be taken against establishments found violating prescribed food safety norms.
The department said surprise inspection drives would continue across the city to ensure availability of safe and hygienic food products for consumers.
