National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Saturday said Kashmir belongs to all communities, including Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs, and urged people to work collectively to rebuild trust and maintain peace in the region.

Addressing a gathering in Srinagar, the National Conference president called on people to reject hatred and divisions, saying unity was essential for progress and stability.

Abdullah appealed for prayers for the safe return of those who had left their homes, describing their absence as a major loss for Kashmir.

“Kashmir belongs to everyone,” he said, stressing that divisions based on religion weaken society and hamper development.

The veteran politician said India could move forward only by preserving its diversity and coexistence, invoking the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and urging people to follow the path of truth and non-violence.

Abdullah also said mistrust between different regions needed to end, adding that peace and stability could only be achieved through cooperation and mutual understanding.
