Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will inaugurate a 30-bed hospital under the Employees’ State Insurance scheme in Budgam on Friday, expanding healthcare services for workers and their families in the region.
The facility, located in Ompora in Budgam, can be expanded to 100 beds and is expected to serve more than 50,000 beneficiaries, officials said.
Built at a cost of about Rs 1.65 billion on a 40-kanal site, the hospital includes three modular operation theatres and a dedicated emergency theatre, along with residential quarters for staff.
Officials said the hospital is equipped with modern infrastructure, including patient lifts, heating and ventilation systems, and eco-friendly features such as solar water heating and wastewater treatment facilities.
The minister is also expected to honour construction workers involved in the project during the inauguration ceremony.
The Employees’ State Insurance scheme, introduced in Jammu and Kashmir in 1989, currently covers more than 1.80 lakh insured workers and around 7 lakh total beneficiaries across the region, with services delivered through dispensaries, hospitals and tie-ups with private healthcare providers.
