DIG JSK calls for heightened vigilance along Jammu border

A senior Police officer has called for increased vigilance and closer coordination among security agencies to strengthen the security grid along border areas, officials said.

Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Jammu-Samba-Kathua range, Shridhar Patil, issued the directions while chairing a security and crime review meeting at the District Police Office in Samba district.

Highlighting the strategic sensitivity of border regions, Patil directed officers to maintain a high level of alertness and intensify surveillance to counter potential threats from anti-national elements.

He instructed Police to enhance vehicle checks, step up patrolling and ensure seamless coordination with other security agencies to maintain a robust security grid.

During the meeting, Patil also reviewed the crime situation in the district, including the status of ongoing investigations and pending cases. 

He emphasised the need for timely disposal of cases in line with recently introduced criminal laws.

The officer called for strict monitoring of absconders, repeat offenders and organised crime groups, and urged Police to take firm action to curb criminal activities.

He also directed officers to intensify efforts under anti-drug campaigns and take action against drug traffickers, as well as against those involved in cattle smuggling.
