The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Wednesday welcomed the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, urging that the pause be turned into a sustained and structured peace process.
In a statement, JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra described the ceasefire as a timely step toward easing tensions in an increasingly fragile global environment.
He said the development underscored a broader recognition that lasting peace cannot be achieved through prolonged confrontation, but through engagement that respects sovereignty and addresses legitimate concerns.
Karra called on the international community to build on the ceasefire by initiating a credible framework for dialogue.
“This pause must be converted into a structured peace process where dialogue replaces distrust and stability is pursued without compromising fundamental principles,” he said.
Referring to the duration of the recent tensions, Karra drew a historical parallel with the Battle of Khaybar, saying such periods highlight the importance of endurance and restraint in shaping outcomes.
He said the episode demonstrated that measured responses, combined with resolve, can help pave the way for long-term peace and stability.
