Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday visited the residence of Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid and Langate MLA Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh to offer condolences on the death of their father, Khizar Muhammad Sheikh.
Khizar Muhammad Sheikh died last week after a prolonged illness. He was 85.
Family members said he died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where he had been undergoing treatment.
During the visit, Abdullah spent time with the bereaved family and expressed sorrow over the loss.
He offered prayers for eternal peace to the departed soul and conveyed his sympathies to the family, wishing them strength and patience to bear the loss.
The CM was accompanied by Cabinet Minister Javid Ahmad Dar, Rajya Sabha member Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan and several legislators.
