Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday introduced a bill aimed at improving ease of doing business and ease of living in the Union Territory.
The Jammu and Kashmir Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026, was introduced in the legislative assembly during its autumn session.
The bill seeks to replace permission-based controls with rule-based governance and is intended to help citizens and businesses plan, invest and operate with greater certainty.
It also aims to promote employment, attract investment and support long-term economic growth, according to its stated objectives.
The measure, listed as LA Bill No. 11 of 2026, has already been published in an extraordinary issue of the Official Gazette.
