Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) of J&K Police conducted searches at Srinagar’s Central Jail on Saturday in connection with a terror-linked case, seizing digital devices believed to be relevant to the investigation, officials said.

The operation was carried out under a warrant issued by a special court designated under the NIA Act in a case registered in 2023 under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Searches were conducted across multiple blocks and barracks following what officials described as credible technical inputs pointing to suspicious digital activity within the prison premises.

Authorities said “incriminating material” in the form of communication devices was recovered and would be subjected to forensic analysis to establish possible links to a wider militant network.

Investigators are also examining how the devices entered the high-security facility and probing the role of any facilitators or collaborators, officials added.

The searches are part of broader efforts to curb the misuse of communication devices in sensitive security zones and to dismantle militant support networks in the region, police said.
