Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth has called for sustained vigilance, battle readiness, and operational preparedness as he reviewed the security situation and the capabilities of formations under the Western Command, the Army said on Tuesday.
Seth reviewed the operational preparedness of the Rising Star Corps during his visit to the Western Command.
He was briefed on the evolving security environment, force readiness and initiatives aimed at absorbing new technologies.
The Western Command covers Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts of the Jammu region.
During his visit to Western Command headquarters, Seth also reviewed ongoing capability-enhancement measures, training initiatives and efforts to improve combat effectiveness.
The Army said Seth stressed the need for the force to remain agile, adaptive and technologically empowered to respond effectively to emerging security challenges.
The visit comes as the Army continues to emphasise greater use of technology and networked capabilities under its stated focus on networking and data-centric operations.
Seth also felicitated five veterans with the “Yoddha Seva Samman” for their contributions after retirement.
Those honoured were retired Colonel Mandip Grewal, honorary Captain Balwinder Singh, honorary Captain Dharam Singh, honorary Captain Ashok Singh and retired Dafadar Pratap Singh.
The awards recognised their work in veteran welfare, youth empowerment, education, environmental conservation and community service.
The Army chief acknowledged the continuing role of veterans in nation-building and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to its veteran community.
