Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said ‘Operation Sindoor’ would remain a lasting reminder to India’s adversaries of the country’s military capabilities, as he marked the first anniversary of the cross-border operation.

In a post on X, Shah paid tribute to the armed forces and described the operation as a defining moment in India’s response to terrorism.

“Operation Sindoor stands as an epochal mission of India that will always remind our enemies of the infallible striking power of our armed forces,” he said.

He said history would remember the operation as an example of the combined strength of India’s armed forces, intelligence agencies and political leadership.

Shah said the mission targeted “every address of terror across the border” linked to the attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, last year, in which 26 people were killed.

“This day will continue to bring the dreadful message to our enemies that no matter where they hide, they cannot escape,” he said. “They are always within our sight and the fierce wrath of our firepower.”

The home minister also saluted what he called the “unparalleled valour” of India’s armed forces.

Operation Sindoor was launched in May 2025 following the Pahalgam attack and involved coordinated action by India’s military services along the western border and in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
