Police in Jammu and Kashmir seized 12 vehicles allegedly involved in illegal mining across multiple districts, officials said on Saturday.
According to a statement by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the action spanned Shopian, Pulwama and Anantnag.
In Shopian, authorities seized four tractors, two tippers and two excavators during raids and patrols targeting unauthorised extraction and transportation of minerals.
Separate checkpoints and operations led to additional seizures of vehicles lacking valid permits and documentation, police said.
In Pulwama, a dumper carrying illegally extracted sand was intercepted and seized, while in Anantnag, three tractors were confiscated in separate actions linked to unlawful mining activities.
Police said cases have been registered at the concerned stations under relevant laws, and investigations are ongoing.
Authorities said the operations were part of continued efforts to curb illegal mining and enforce regulations governing mineral extraction in the region.
