Police in Jammu and Kashmir arrested eight suspected drug peddlers in separate operations across Anantnag, Baramulla and Budgam districts, seizing large quantities of contraband substances, officials said on Saturday.

Police in Jammu and Kashmir arrested eight suspected drug peddlers in separate operations across Anantnag, Baramulla and Budgam districts, seizing large quantities of contraband substances, officials said on Saturday.
According to a statement by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, raids and checkpoints led to multiple arrests and recoveries.
In Anantnag district, police seized around 5.75 kg of cannabis during a raid in Shangus, arresting two individuals.
Additional operations in Sangam and along the KP Road in Bumzoo led to further arrests and the recovery of charas and charas powder, including a haul exceeding 5 kg, the statement said.
Another raid in the Uttrasoo area resulted in the seizure of more than 2 kg of cannabis, while a separate search operation recovered over 17 kg of crushed charas-like substance and smaller quantities of processed charas following a warrant issued by a judicial magistrate.
In Baramulla, investigators recovered over 4 kg of charas-like substance from a storage shed linked to a suspect during a probe into an earlier case.
Separately, in Budgam, police arrested another individual and seized a smaller quantity of charas during a search operation.
All accused have been taken into custody and cases registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, police said, adding that further investigation is underway.
