The White Knight Corps has joined a 100-day anti-drug campaign in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Saturday, as authorities step up efforts to curb substance abuse in the region.
The campaign, part of the “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan” led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, aims to tackle drug addiction through coordinated action involving security forces and civil institutions.
A three-month outreach programme was launched at Nagrota, beginning with a pledge ceremony and a march involving school students and cadets of the National Cadet Corps, a defence spokesperson said.
The initiative is being carried out in coordination with local administration, police, healthcare agencies and educational institutions, reflecting what officials described as a “whole-of-society” approach.
Over the coming weeks, activities will include awareness drives in schools and colleges, community outreach involving local leaders, and programmes aimed at educating youth and families about the risks of drug abuse.
Authorities will also focus on early identification of addiction cases, counselling support and facilitating access to rehabilitation services, the spokesperson said.
The Army said the campaign underscores its role in supporting civil authorities and engaging with communities to address social challenges and promote a drug-free environment in J&K.
