The government has deputed four J&K Police officers to Saudi Arabia to assist with the management of Indian pilgrims during the Hajj-2026, officials said on Thursday.

Under an order issued by the Home Department, the officers would be stationed at the Consulate General of India in Jeddah, where they would serve as Hajj officers and superintendents. 

Their assignments are set to begin after they are relieved of their current duties on April 6.

The appointments follow their selection by the Hajj Committee of India, which operates under the Ministry of Minority Affairs and oversees arrangements for Indian pilgrims traveling to Makkah.

The officers Peerzada Aijaz Ahmad, Muhammad Muzaffar Jan, and Shahzada Kabir Matoo, all Superintendents of Police, and Burhan-ul-Haq Kanth, a Deputy Superintendent, will be part of a broader administrative effort to coordinate logistics, address grievances, and facilitate the movement of pilgrims during one of the world’s largest annual religious gatherings.

Each year, thousands of Indians travel to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj, requiring extensive coordination between Indian and Saudi authorities. 

Officials said the deputation was intended to ensure smoother on-ground management and support for pilgrims from across the country, including those from Jammu and Kashmir.
