14 JKAS officers cleared for IAS

UPSC approves induction

Fourteen senior Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service officers have been cleared for induction into the Indian Administrative Service, including Information Secretary Munir-ul-Islam, Science and Technology Commissioner Secretary Babila Rakwal and ARI and Training Commissioner Secretary Shabnam Kamili.

The Union Public Service Commission approved the names at a meeting in New Delhi on April 23-24, 2026.

The General Administration Department has been asked to obtain the officers’ consent for induction and convey it to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Personnel and Training.

Formal notification and allocation years will follow after the required consent and against available vacancies.

The other officers cleared include Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Secretary Rachna Sharma, Skill Development Mission Director Leena Padha, Forest, Ecology and Environment Secretary Rajinder Singh Tara, Medical Supplies Corporation Managing Director Tariq Hussain Ganai and ICDS Mission Director Sajjad Hussain Ganai.

Also on the list are Rural Sanitation Director General Anoo Malhotra, Agriculture Production Secretary Nitu Gupta, State Taxes Commissioner Prediman Krishen Bhat, Samagra Shiksha Project Director Bhawani Rakwal and Youth Services and Sports Director General Anuradha Gupta.

Sixteen JKAS officers were previously inducted into the IAS in 2022. Reports indicated that most officers cleared at the April meeting were against the 2019 vacancy year, with the remainder against 2020, while nine retired JKAS officers eligible for induction were to be considered the following year.
