A soldier was found dead in his quarters at a military camp in Nagrota on Sunday, with police and the army launching separate investigations into the incident, officials said.
The soldier was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in his room in the family quarters, they said.
Police have initiated inquest proceedings after completing medico-legal formalities to determine the circumstances leading to the death. The soldier was posted with an army dog unit at the camp.
The army has also ordered a departmental inquiry into the incident, officials said.
