The Jammu and Kashmir government has shifted the holiday marking the Urs of Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani, also known as Sheikh-ul-Alam, by one day to October 9.
An order issued by the General Administration Department on Wednesday said the holiday, earlier scheduled for Thursday, October 8, would now be observed on Friday, October 9.
The change applies to Kashmir Province only.
The order partially modifies a government notification issued in December 2025 and was issued by the Lieutenant Governor’s administration.
It was signed by M Raju, Commissioner Secretary to the Government, General Administration Department.
