Jammu and Kashmir is likely to remain hot and humid over the coming days, with brief spells of rain and thunderstorms expected in several areas, the Meteorological Centre said on Saturday.
Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected during the morning and afternoon on August 30, while light to moderate rain is forecast at many places on August 31 and September 1.
The weather department warned that brief intense or heavy showers in parts of the Jammu division could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides.
Weather is expected to remain generally dry from September 2 to 10, although isolated rain or thunderstorms could occur during morning and afternoon hours.
Farmers have been advised to continue harvesting and other agricultural operations.
Temperatures remained above normal across several parts of the union territory on Saturday.
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 33.5 degrees Celsius, 4.6 degrees Celsius above normal, while the minimum was 19.6 degrees Celsius, 3.6 degrees Celsius above normal.
Jammu recorded a maximum of 34.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.2 degrees Celsius, while Kupwara reached 34.2 degrees Celsius.
Qazigund recorded 32 degrees Celsius, followed by 31.2 degrees Celsius at Kokernag, and 30.4 degrees Celsius at Banihal.
Pahalgam recorded a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 16.2 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg recorded the lowest maximum among the listed tourist destinations at 24 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12.2 degrees Celsius.
Katra recorded 30 degrees Celsius and received 84.2 mm of rain in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Saturday, the highest rainfall among the stations listed by the department.
The Meteorological Centre advised caution in areas vulnerable to flash floods, mudslides and landslides during periods of intense rainfall.
