Srinagar, Oct 23
A weak western disturbance brought light rain and gusty winds to parts of Kashmir on Friday evening, while snowfall covered several higher-altitude areas, including the Aharbal mountains in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The change followed a day of sunshine and relatively pleasant weather, with clouds gathering over the Valley towards evening.
Light rain and thundershowers were reported in parts of north, central and south Kashmir.
Higher reaches in south Kashmir received snowfall, while light snow was also reported at Peer Ki Gali, Sinthan Top and Margan Top, officials said.
Snowfall was continuing in some areas late on Friday, they said.
Other high-altitude locations that could receive snow include Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Zojila Pass, Gurez, Tulail, Razdan Top, Sadhna Pass and Karnah.
The Meteorological Department forecast light rain at isolated places on Friday and Saturday, followed by largely dry weather during the following week. Another spell of light rain or snowfall is possible at a few places between November 1 and 3.
