Police conduct raids in Baramulla in investigation under anti-terror law

Electronic devices seized during coordinated raids in Baramulla

Police searched multiple locations in Baramulla district on Wednesday as part of an investigation under the country’s anti-terror law, seizing electronic devices for forensic examination, officials said.

The coordinated searches were conducted in connection with a case registered at Baramulla police station under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), police said in a statement.

The searches targeted the residences of four men in different parts of Baramulla town, including Iqbal Colony, Kanli Bagh, Tawheed Gunj and Khawajabagh.

Police said they seized four mobile phones and a laptop, which have been sent for forensic analysis as part of the investigation.

The searches were carried out in the presence of executive magistrates and independent witnesses in accordance with legal procedures, the statement said.

Police did not disclose the nature of the alleged unlawful activities under investigation or announce any arrests.

The force said the operation formed part of its ongoing efforts to investigate offences related to unlawful activities while maintaining public order and national security.

It said that the investigation would be conducted in accordance with the law.
