Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Saturday chaired a security review meeting in Srinagar and stressed closer inter-agency coordination and real-time sharing of intelligence to strengthen operational readiness in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by DGP Nalin Prabhat, IG Kashmir Sujit Kumar and senior Army and intelligence officers.
Sharma reviewed assessments on the prevailing security situation, operational preparedness and coordination mechanisms and called for greater synergy among agencies involved in the security grid.
He said closer coordination was essential for rapid response and effective joint operations.
The meeting focused on aligning operational priorities and strengthening mechanisms for sharing and acting on actionable intelligence.
Officials said the review also assessed existing coordination structures and areas where greater integration could help shorten response times.
The meeting came days after Sharma visited South Kashmir to review the progress of Operation KORAG and assess the security situation.
During the visit, he commended the formation for its synergy, dedication, perseverance and commitment to sustained counter-terror operations.
Earlier in the week, Sharma had reviewed the security posture in the Akhnoor sector and directed troops to remain vigilant and combat-ready.
Saturday’s meeting extended the security review to the joint planning level, with emphasis on intelligence-driven operations.
Northern Command has repeatedly stressed inter-agency synergy, precision and sustained vigilance as key requirements for operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
The latest review placed particular emphasis on real-time sharing of inputs so that joint teams can respond quickly once information is corroborated.
The security grid in the Union Territory involves the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces, and intelligence agencies.
Joint Control Centres and district-level coordination forums are used to coordinate deployments, area domination and follow-up action.
The latest directions are aimed at maintaining close coordination as security agencies continue to monitor residual threats and attempts to revive support networks.
No fresh incident or specific operational outcome was linked to the meeting in the official communication.
Northern Command, headquartered at Udhampur, is responsible for the Line of Control and the hinterland security grid in Jammu and Kashmir.
