Northern Army Commander Pratik Sharma on Wednesday reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness of troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, officials said.

In a post on X, the Army’s Northern Command said Sharma visited forward areas in the Sunderbani sector along the LoC and assessed the prevailing security scenario.

“Lt Gen Pratik Sharma reviewed the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness of the forward areas of Sunderbani Sector along the LoC,” the Army said.

During the visit, Sharma interacted with Army personnel and members of the Border Security Force deployed in the sector.

The Army said the commander commended the troops for their “battle-hardened resilience, indomitable courage and unwavering commitment to duty”.

He also encouraged personnel to rapidly adopt emerging technologies to enhance operational capabilities and maintain combat readiness, it added.

Jammu and Kashmir has a 740-km-long LoC spanning parts of Rajouri, Poonch and Jammu districts in the Jammu region, and Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara districts in Kashmir.

The Army is deployed along the LoC, while the 240-km International Border in the union territory falls in the districts of Samba, Kathua and Jammu.
