Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said a militant associate was arrested during a joint operation in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district and explosive material was recovered from his possession.

In a statement, the J&K Police said the arrest was made during a joint operation with the Indian Army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force’s 18 Battalion in Mohammadpora village of Kulgam district.

Police said security personnel intercepted a suspect during the operation and recovered two hand grenades and incriminating posters during a personal search.

The accused was identified as Aadil Hussain Lone of Mohammadpora in Kulgam district, police said.

He was arrested on the spot and a case was registered under FIR No 88/2026 at Police Station Kulgam under relevant sections of law, the statement said.

Further investigation is underway and more arrests and recoveries are expected, police added.
