Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday directed the Indian Red Cross Society in J&K to expand its services in remote and border areas.
Sinha, who is president of the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K, issued the direction while chairing its annual general meeting.
He asked Deputy Commissioners to increase resource mobilisation, identify new sources of funding and prepare district-wise annual activity plans.
Sinha also asked officials to examine the possibility of opening diagnostic centres in remote areas where residents travel long distances for hospital services.
He called for coordinated efforts to eliminate tuberculosis, including identification, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients.
The LG also directed the Red Cross to expand assistance to vulnerable sections and intensify its anti-drug campaign.
The meeting also considered budget estimates, audit matters, appointments of medical officers at blood banks and diagnostic centres, and activities of district Red Cross units.
