Vow attackers will face justice, pay tribute to slain policeman

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday condemned the killing of a police head constable in a militant attack in Anantnag and expressed condolences to his family.
Sinha spoke to Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat to review the security situation following the attack, in which Head Constable Ashiq Hussain was killed while on duty.
“The whole country stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the family of the martyr,” Sinha said in a post on X, adding that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.
He directed security agencies to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend the attackers.
The LG also conveyed condolences to Hussain’s family and praised the slain policeman for sacrificing his life in the line of duty.
CM Omar separately condemned the attack and paid tribute to Hussain, a member of the 3rd Battalion of the India Reserve Police.
“I unequivocally condemn this attack and send my heartfelt condolences to the members of his family,” he said.
