The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) on Friday submitted its 67th Annual Report for the year 2025-26 to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Lok Bhavan, Srinagar, in compliance with Article 323(2) of the Constitution of India.
A delegation of the Commission comprising Members Rajiv Singh and Asaf Mehmood Sagar and Secretary Bashir Ahmad Dar was led by JKPSC Chairman Arun Kumar Choudhary.
The comprehensive annual report highlights a year marked by significant administrative reforms, accelerated selection timelines and robust recruitment drives across key administrative and judicial cadres in Jammu and Kashmir.
LG Sinha commended the JKPSC for its commitment to fairness and speed while maintaining meritocracy and integrity throughout the recruitment process.
Chairman JKPSC Arun Kumar Choudhary briefed the LG on various structural and technological interventions undertaken by the commission to enhance efficiency, transparency and reliability in the recruitment process.
The annual report outlines the commission’s achievements during 2025-26, besides detailing constitutional provisions, selections made, Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings held, promotions effected and recruitment rules of departments approved by the commission.
During the year, the JKPSC made 1152 selections against 1263 posts referred to it.
The selections included appointments to the J&K Administrative Service, J&K Police Service, J&K Accounts Service, among other services.
The commission also made selections against 39 posts of Junior Judges in the Subordinate Judiciary.
In addition, faculty positions in various medical colleges and degree colleges, along with other gazetted-level posts in different departments, were filled during the year.
The commission held 29 Departmental Promotion Committee meetings and cleared 508 officers for promotion.
In the field of rule-making, it gave its assent to the recruitment rules of two departments.
The report stated that the commission received 94,546 applications against the 1263 posts referred to it during 2025-26.
During the year, the JKPSC conducted 52 written tests and preliminary examinations and two mains examinations.
It also conducted three departmental examinations, in which 813 candidates appeared.
The commission said it has adopted 100 percent written-examination-based recruitment to ensure greater transparency in the overall recruitment process.
As part of its efforts to modernise and streamline recruitment, the commission has also switched over to the “On-Screen Evaluation” system, aimed at ensuring error-free evaluation and avoiding delays in the selection process.
The commission has further introduced an SMS-based system to inform candidates about examinations and interviews, thereby improving communication and ensuring that applicants receive timely information regarding the recruitment process.
The 67th Annual Report reflects the commission’s continued efforts towards strengthening recruitment mechanisms, expediting selections and promoting greater transparency, efficiency and accountability in the public service recruitment process in Jammu and Kashmir.
