Jammu, May 12
Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Tuesday and killed one suspected militant, officials said.
The incident occurred in the Krishna Ghati sector when troops detected suspicious movement by a group attempting to cross from across LoC, triggering an exchange of fire, officials said.
“Acting on persistent surveillance, suspicious movement was detected approximately 300 metres inside own territory in the general area of Krishna Ghati Sector, Poonch, along the LoC at around 4 pm today,” the Army’s White Knight Corps said in a post on X.
The Army said troops responded swiftly and prevented any breach of the LoC.
“One intruder has been neutralised,” it said, adding that forces continued to dominate the area and remained on high operational alert.
Security sources said the slain intruder was suspected to be linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and was attempting to infiltrate near the Bicho Post area in Mankote sector of Poonch district.
