The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday ordered a broad reshuffle of its Police leadership, transferring 82 officers across senior and mid-level ranks in a move that signals an effort to recalibrate command positions across Jammu and Kashmir.

The changes, issued by the Home Department and approved by the LG, span the Indian Police Service (IPS) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS), affecting postings from intelligence and crime units to field commands in some of the region’s most sensitive districts.

Among the most senior appointments, Tejinder Singh, a Deputy Inspector General overseeing the Rajouri-Poonch Range, was named Inspector General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Sarah Rizvi, who had been serving in the Udhampur-Reasi Range, was appointed Inspector General for Crime, while Shahid Mehraj Rather was moved to head Police Telecommunications.

Several range-level commanders were also reassigned.

Shridhar Patil Daulu was shifted to the Jammu-Samba-Kathua range, while Haseeb-ur-Rehman moved from Railways to take charge of Traffic in Kashmir.

Others were rotated into key operational roles, including J&K Armed Police and district commands, underscoring the breadth of the reorganisation.

At the district level, a number of Senior Superintendents of Police were transferred, including a swap between Udhampur and Anantnag.

New appointments were also made in Samba, Ganderbal, and Budgam districts, alongside postings in specialized units like the Crime and Technical Forensic Division and Security wings.

The reshuffle extended to younger officers as well, with members of the 2022 batch of the IPS assigned to roles in Srinagar, Baramulla, and Jammu.

In addition to IPS officers, the government ordered a series of transfers within the JKPS, reassigning officers to positions in battalions, intelligence units, traffic, and security divisions across the region.
