Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Sujit Kumar on Sunday reviewed security, counter-terrorism operations, law and order and crime preparedness during visits to Baramulla and Sopore.
Kumar, accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range, Vinod Kumar, chaired separate review meetings in the two districts.
In Baramulla, he paid homage to fallen police personnel at the Martyrs’ Memorial at District Police Lines before reviewing the security and operational situation.
Senior officers briefed him on counter-terrorism operations, intelligence inputs, area domination, security of vulnerable locations, law and order preparedness and crime.
Kumar called for stronger intelligence gathering at the grassroots level and intelligence-based operations against terrorists and their support networks.
He also stressed sustained operational pressure, surveillance, effective checkpoints and interception mechanisms, and coordination among field formations.
The IGP inspected Police Station Baramulla and reviewed its functioning, directing personnel to focus on professional policing, crime prevention and investigation, proper record-keeping and prompt grievance redressal.
In Sopore, SSP Iftikhar Talib, along with sub-divisional police officers and operations officers, briefed Kumar on the security situation and measures being taken across the police district.
Kumar praised officers and personnel in both districts and urged them to maintain professionalism, vigilance, and commitment to preserving a peaceful and secure environment.
