Collegium backs Bourney for J&K, Ladakh HC

Judicial officer has served in J&K judicial service since 1997

The Supreme Court Collegium on Thursday recommended judicial officer Yash Paul Bourney for appointment as a judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The recommendation was approved at the Collegium’s meeting on Sept. 10, according to a statement issued by the Supreme Court.

Bourney, born on August 25, 1967, joined the judicial service on December 1, 1997.

He entered the super-time scale of District and Sessions Judge in August 2011.

Bourney is currently serving on deputation as a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Special Tribunal in Jammu, where he was posted in November 2025.

He is a resident of Dadwara Bhaddu in Kathua district.
