New Delhi, Oct 31
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has married journalist Nidhi Razdan, with the couple announcing their wedding in separate social media posts on Saturday.
Abdullah, 56, shared photographs of the couple on X and said a “new journey began yesterday”.
Razdan also confirmed the marriage through a post on the platform.
The wedding was solemnised in New Delhi on Friday under the Special Marriage Act, according to sources. Family members from both sides were present as witnesses.
The wedding functions in Srinagar and New Delhi were attended by close relatives, including Abdullah’s parents, Farooq Abdullah and Mollie, his sisters and Razdan’s parents, journalist M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan.
The marriage comes after the Supreme Court dissolved Abdullah’s previous marriage to Payal in July following a settlement between the two.
It is also Razdan’s second marriage.
Both Abdullah and Razdan restricted replies to their wedding announcements on X, allowing only selected users to comment.
Abdullah has maintained an active presence on the platform since 2010 and was widely known for his frequent posts and interactions with users.
His social media activity has often attracted political criticism and public reactions.
The reason for restricting comments on the wedding announcement was not stated.
