Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday visited the family of a police head constable killed in a militant attack in Anantnag, paying tribute to the officer and assuring his relatives of continued government support.

Sinha travelled to Lalpora in Beerwah, Budgam district, to meet the family of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, who was killed while on duty in the attack earlier this week.

The LG expressed condolences to the family and paid tribute to Qureshi’s service, describing his courage and sacrifice as an example that would be remembered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sinha said Qureshi’s dedication to his duty and country would continue to inspire future generations and urged society, particularly young people, to draw strength from the policeman’s commitment.

He assured the family that the administration would stand by them and work to protect their welfare and dignity.

The LG also promised continued support for Qureshi’s son, saying the administration would assist him until he completed his studies and became eligible for a government appointment on compassionate grounds.

Sinha also highlighted what he described as progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in dismantling militant networks and reiterated his government’s resolve to eliminate militancy from Jammu and Kashmir.
