More than four lakh yatris have completed the annual Amarnath Yatra this year as the yatra to the Himalayan shrine in south Kashmir continues, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Sunday.

In a post on X, Sinha said that 4.14 lakh devotees had so far received darshan at the holy cave shrine, describing the milestone as a significant achievement for the ongoing pilgrimage.

“By Lord Shiva’s divine grace, the holy Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra has crossed a remarkable milestone and more than 4 Lakh pilgrims have already completed the sacred journey. Till now, 4.14 Lakh devotees have received darshan,” Sinha said.

He expressed gratitude to the pilgrims, security personnel, civil administration, local communities and others involved in facilitating the annual pilgrimage.

“I bow with reverence to Baba Amarnath for this blessing and extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this journey a truly divine experience for all,” he said.

The crossing of the four-lakh mark comes as the pilgrimage continues amid challenging weather conditions in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, with authorities maintaining close monitoring of the routes leading to the shrine.

The annual pilgrimage draws devotees from across India and is one of the largest religious gatherings in the region. Pilgrims undertake the journey through two principal routes, from Pahalgam and Baltal, to reach the cave shrine situated at a high altitude in the Himalayas.

The administration has deployed extensive arrangements involving security forces, medical teams, disaster-response personnel and civil authorities to support the movement of pilgrims and respond to weather-related emergencies.

The milestone also comes against the backdrop of intermittent heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir, which has disrupted road connectivity at several places and triggered landslides and shooting stones along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.

Despite the weather-related challenges, the pilgrimage has continued, with authorities regulating movement wherever necessary to ensure the safety of devotees.

The four-lakh milestone represents a significant stage in this year’s pilgrimage and reflects the continued flow of devotees to the shrine as the Yatra progresses.
