Authorities recover body from Chenab River, another from cremation ground

Police have launched investigations after the bodies of two unidentified men were recovered in separate incidents in India’s Jammu district on Friday, officials said.
The first body was recovered from the Chenab River near Bomal village in the Akhnoor area after local authorities were alerted to its presence.
Police registered a case and began efforts to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding the death, officials said.
In a separate incident, the body of an unidentified young man was found at a cremation ground in the Basi area of Bishnah.
Residents told police the deceased appeared to have sustained a head injury and showed signs of significant blood loss, although the exact cause of death will be determined after a post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a separate case in connection with the recovery and launched an investigation.
Officials said the identities of both deceased individuals were yet to be established and inquiries were continuing.
