Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Thursday reviewed security and logistical arrangements for the annual Amarnath Yatra at key locations along the pilgrimage route, directing personnel to maintain heightened vigilance while ensuring minimal inconvenience to devotees.

Prabhat inspected security measures at the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam, where he assessed frisking procedures, access control systems, crowd management and the deployment of police and security personnel.

He instructed officers to conduct thorough security checks while facilitating the smooth movement of yatris, stressing that public-friendly policing should remain a priority throughout the 57-day yatra.

“The highest standards of vigilance and professionalism must be maintained while ensuring a hassle-free experience for yatris,” he told officers during the inspection.

The police chief said close coordination among the police, security forces, civil administration, and other agencies was essential to ensure the safe and incident-free conduct of the yatra.

Prabhat also visited Lambar Ground in Banihal, Ramban district, where he reviewed security, traffic management, and emergency response arrangements with senior civil and police officials.

He was accompanied by Special Director General of Police (Coordination) Syed Javaid Mujtaba Geelani, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, and senior officers of the Central Reserve Police Force.

Officials briefed the police chief on security deployment, traffic regulation, emergency preparedness, and facilities established for yatris travelling through Ramban district.

The visit forms part of a series of inspections being conducted by senior officials ahead of the commencement of the annual Amarnath Yatra on Friday.
