Jammu and Kashmir Police has received a national award for excellence in passport-related services for the second consecutive year, underscoring its performance in processing and verifying passport applications across J&K.
The force was conferred the Institutional Performance Award for State Police during Passport Seva Divas celebrations and the Regional Passport Officers’ Conference held in New Delhi from June 17 to 19.
The award recognised the department’s efficiency in conducting police verifications and delivering citizen-focused services, officials said.
According to police data, the department completed verification of 164,354 passport applications between April 2025 and March 2026.
Officials attributed the recognition to increased use of technology, streamlined verification procedures and efforts to reduce processing delays.
The award was presented by the External Affairs Minister during the conference at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan in New Delhi.
Police officials said the achievement reflected the force’s commitment to transparent governance and public service delivery while helping facilitate travel for education, employment and personal purposes.
The recognition is expected to further encourage reforms aimed at improving citizen-facing services across the department, they said.
