US President Donald Trump on Friday accused Iran of carrying out a drone attack against ships carrying Indian crew members near the Strait of Hormuz, describing the incident as “totally unacceptable.”

Three commercial vessels with Indian crew members have come under attack off the coast of Oman this week.

One of the incidents resulted in the deaths of three Indian seafarers on Wednesday.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump alleged that Iran was responsible for the latest attack on vessels departing the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

“Their totally rebuffed drone attack last night against Indian ships leaving the Hormuz Strait is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE,” Trump wrote.

Trump did not provide evidence to support the allegation, and there was no immediate response from Iranian authorities to the claim.

The accusation comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran and follows a series of attacks on commercial shipping in waters around the Gulf of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy exports.

India has expressed concern over the safety of its seafarers after multiple incidents involving vessels carrying Indian crew members in the region. New Delhi has also lodged diplomatic protests over attacks on commercial shipping and called for the protection of civilian mariners and freedom of navigation in international waters.
