Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said three tractors involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of mining material were seized in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
In a statement, Jammu and Kashmir Police said the vehicles were intercepted near Bringi Nallah in the Sofshali area of Kokernag during routine patrolling and checking by Police Station Kokernag.
Police said the tractors were found engaged in unauthorised extraction and transportation of minerals and were seized on the spot.
A case under FIR No. 53/2026 was registered at Police Station Kokernag under relevant sections of law and an investigation has been initiated, the statement said.
Police said the crackdown against illegal mining activities across the district would continue and warned of strict legal action against those involved in the exploitation of natural resources.
