The Centre has intensified coordinated measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel and LPG across India amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia, while urging citizens to avoid panic buying, officials said.
According to an official update, the government has activated a multi-agency mechanism involving central ministries, state governments and oil marketing companies to maintain stability in fuel supply chains.
Authorities said adequate stocks are available and all retail outlets are functioning normally.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said domestic supply remains a priority, with no reported shortages of LPG at distribution points. It added that full supply is being ensured for domestic LPG, piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) segments.
Officials said nearly 47 lakh domestic LPG cylinders were delivered against bookings of about 47.4 lakh on May 2, reflecting near-complete demand fulfilment.
To manage demand, the government has revised LPG booking intervals to 25 days in urban areas and up to 45 days in rural areas.
Priority allocation has been extended to critical sectors including healthcare, agriculture, steel and education.
Public sector oil companies have also intensified outreach, conducting awareness campaigns and expanding access to smaller 5-kg LPG cylinders for vulnerable groups. Since April, over 23.44 lakh such cylinders have been sold.
Commercial LPG supply, which had been affected by global disruptions, has recovered to about 70 per cent of pre-crisis levels, officials said.
The government also said refineries are operating at high capacity and domestic production has been ramped up.
Maritime fuel shipments continue without disruption, including LPG cargoes passing through key global shipping routes.
Authorities have stepped up enforcement against hoarding and black marketing, with more than 1900 raids conducted in a single day and action taken against multiple LPG distributors.
Officials said the Ministry of External Affairs is monitoring developments in the Gulf region and that Indian missions remain in contact with citizens abroad.
Reiterating that there is no fuel shortage, the government urged citizens to avoid misinformation, conserve energy and rely on official communication channels.
