Srinagar, May 1

Police in Shopian district have attached a double-storey residential house allegedly acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug-related activities in south Kashmir.

According to police, the property belongs to Ali Muhammad Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, a resident of Haji Check Keegam, and falls under Khasra No. 1163. Officials said the property is valued at Rs 20.37 lakh.

Police said the house was identified as having been acquired through proceeds generated from the illegal trade of drugs and narcotics and was attached in connection with FIR No. 212/2025 registered at Police Station Shopian.

The attachment process was carried out in the presence of a police team, an executive magistrate, a lambardar and a chowkidar to ensure compliance with legal procedures and maintain transparency, police said.

Police said the action forms part of efforts to dismantle the financial networks linked to narcotics trafficking under the ongoing anti-drug campaign in Jammu and Kashmir.

Authorities also appealed to the public to share information related to drug trafficking and other narcotics-related activities.
