Authorities in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district demolished 15 illegal shops and other structures in Waghama village as part of an ongoing anti-narcotics and encroachment removal campaign, officials said on Saturday.
The action was carried out jointly by the civil administration and police under the 100-day ‘Nasha Mukht’ programme launched by the J&K administration.
Officials said the demolished structures were built on state and Kahcharai land recorded under khasra numbers 2494 (min) and 2495 (min), and were allegedly linked to individuals involved in cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
One of the demolished structures belonged to Sajad Ahmad Rather of Waghama, officials said, adding that the drive targeted illegal encroachments as well as alleged narco-related activities.
Authorities said the operation forms part of a broader enforcement campaign aimed at dismantling drug networks and removing illegal constructions on public land.
They warned that similar action will continue against anyone found involved in drug trafficking or unlawful occupation of state land.
